What is the relationship between the UMass Boston Youtube Channel and iTunes U?
Both YouTube and iTunesU offer a place to post videos to the public. UMass Boston believes that the more rich content that is posted to both platforms, the stronger the university’s image. iTunesU is an Apple platform, and YouTube is owned by Google. iTunes U at UMass Boston will have private areas viewable only by enrolled students that are course-specific. The UMass Boston YouTube channel is completely public. Furthermore, iTunesU hosts fewer videos and offers more podcasts (audio recordings). iTunes downloads content to your local device for viewing/listening while YouTube, plays content online. There is much common ground between both. We are setting up a channel to organize UMass videos for YouTube and we ask that if you have material to post, you contact DeWayne Lehman, Director of Communications, who reviews both the iTunes and YouTube content for Umass Boston. .
