What is the relationship between the telephone line and an alarm system?
It is understood that most security systems have audible alarms within the house and if the alarm is not deactivated within the given amount of time, a signal is sent to the monitoring station through telephone lines. If an intruder locates the telephone line on the exterior of the house, the telephone line can be cut. If the telephone line is cut, the monitoring station cannot be notified. Some security systems provide that if the telephone line is tampered with or cut, the monitoring station is still notified and the proper authorities are dispatched. Whether or not you have a monitored or unmonitored security system or no security system at all, it is always a safe idea to have a protected phone line.
