What is the relationship between the IAFC and the United States Fire Administration (USFA)?
The US Fire Administration [4] is a federal government agency now located organizationally in the Department of Homeland Security. The IAFC collaborates with the USFA on a host of items, such as educational programs (e.g., the Executive Fire Officer programs), community education and awareness programs, hazardous materials programs, and fire code enforcement, to mention a few. R. David Paulison, the new Under Secretary for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the Department of Homeland Security, is a former fire chief. Please comment. R. David Paulison is a former president of the IAFC. Before that, he was chief of the Miami-Dade Fire Department in Miami, Florida. He then took the job at the USFA shortly after September 11, 2001; was appointed acting director of FEMA when former Director Mike Brown resigned; and last week was confirmed by the US Senate as the new director of FEMA.
