These are related to the probability-based approach in DIN EN ISO 13849-1:2007. The figure shows the relationships between the safety categories, DC, MTTFd and PL. The combination of category and DCavg determines which column to choose in the figure. One of the three colour-coded ranges in the corresponding column must be chosen depending on the MTTFd of each channel. The vertical position of these ranges determines the PL achieved. This can be read off the vertical axis.
