A. The merge will increase the number of dogs whose data can be seamlessly accessed by the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC), the new program jointly sponsored by the OFA and the AKC/Canine Health Foundation. CHIC is a database that pools information from multiple sources based on recommendations made by breeders through their parent clubs. GDC is not involved with the CHIC program, but after the merge the GDC data will be available for use in CHIC. Through the CHIC program breeders use a single OFA database to maintain health test results that may come from a variety of sources.
