What is the relationship between OPS 2.0 and OCF 1.0?
OCF is a zip-based container format for encapsulating complete OPS publications and optional alternate renditions like PDF into a file for distribution. OCF files can easily be recognized by the .epub file extension. In short, OPS is the markup and structure of a book or publication and OCF is the container format for distributing that content. The OCF requires inclusion of an OPS version of the publication facilitating cross-platform compatibility. Application of digital rights management (DRM) and any platform-targeting may be subsequently performed if required by the target Reading System. If required, platform targeting should be a lights-out automated process incorporated into the software or hardware implementation of the specifications.
