What is the relationship between OEB and OPS 2.0 and what is new in OPS 2.0?
The Open eBook Publication Structure (OEBPS), commonly referred to as OEB, is the precursor to OPS 2.0. There are currently tens of thousands of OEB files on the servers of publishers, distributors and retailers. OEB and OPS 2.0 are fully compatible; in fact, it is possible to create jointly compatible OEB 1.2 and OPS 2.0 publications by providing valid XHTML markup. OPS 2.0 is divided into two specification documents to enhance modularization. One document is the Open Publication Structure (OPS) specification that describes the representation or markup of the content. The second document is the Open Packaging Format (OPF) that provides the packaging, navigation, metadata and other information that defines the way in which the various components of a digital book are tied together.
