What is the Relationship Between NAU CTE Programs and NOCTI?
Bachelor’s students in the Bachelors of Education, Career and Technical Education Industrial Technology or Occupational Education programs can take the entire NOCTI Job Ready Assessment (written and performance) to earn “occupational experience” credit that can be used towards the “major” coursework in their degree. Upon successful completion of this exam a student can earn 35 hours of credit towards the occupational education program or 30 hours of credit towards the Industrial Technology program. You must have completed at least one NAU class that is posted to a transcript prior to taking the NOCTI exam for 35 credits. Beginning spring, 2009 all students in secondary CTE certification programs (undergraduate or graduate) will be required to take and pass the written portion of an appropriate NOCTI Job Ready Assessment prior to student teaching. The exam is being used to verify appropriate content area knowledge in the subject area the student will be teaching.
