What Is The Relationship Between Liquid-phase Diffusion And The Order Of Kinetic Reactions?
There is no real relationship between liquid-phase diffusion and the order of a kinetic kinetic. The order of a reaction depends on the species involved in the rate determining step and the nature of the reactive intermediates. Liquid phase diffusion, on the other hand is about how one liquid or solid or gas diffuses through a liquid, due to molecular motion. This is a physical process, not a chemical process. However, if the rate of diffusion is slow, chemicals will not mix together very efficiently and this can affect the RATE of a reaction, as the concentration of one of the reactants might be rather low and the rate depnds on teh concentration of the reactants. But the order of reaction is not going to change. Conversely, if the rate of diffusion is high, the chemicals will mix quickly and so the reaction will take a shorter time to reach equilibrium. But the order of the reaction still hasn’t changed.
