What is the relationship between gout and soyabeans?
Gout is a form of arthritis. It results from excessive uric acid in the blood stream which leaves needle like crystal deposits in the joints causing redness, swelling and extreme pain. High purine foods such as organ meat, beer, sardines have to be avoided and legumes that have moderate amount of purines have to be restricted. Soyabeans also come under the medium purine content foods and hence has to be taken in moderation. Tofu has less amount of purine and can be consumed by gout patients.
