Both AMBER and Epic were based on a recipe syntax in use at UCSB since the early 90’s in a program called MBE Master written by Randy Geels. AMBER does not share any code with Epic. AMBER has been written fresh from the ground up with a different underlying structure that allows for modularized instrument drivers, plug-ins and control of shutter timing through hardware.
