What is the relationship between a diamonds size and its value?
• A diamond on the “point” of 0.50 ct., 0.70 ct., 1.00 ct., 1.70 ct., and 2.00 ct. per carat is more expensive. If the diamond is off by the “point” by a little bit, it will be worth considerably less. For example, a 0.95 ct. diamond when compared to a 1.00 ct. diamond of the same color, quality and cutting will be worth 15 – 20% less. The relationship between a diamond’s size and its value are the geometrical exponent. For example, the value of a one-piece 2.00 ct diamond is not equal to two 1.00 ct. diamonds of the same color, clarity and cutting; instead it is worth more than 4 pieces of 1.00 ct. diamonds of the same color, clarity and size.
