What is the relation between ISBN and EAN-13?
Like any product, publication can be codified under EAN-13 standard to ease its managing during storage and selling. When an ISBN code is converted to EAN-13, so that the publication can have a barcode, the ISBN is partially included inside EAN-13 code. The EAN-13 codified ISBN always starts with 978, followed by country code, publisher code and publication code. EAN-13 removes last ISBN code (control digit) and adds its own.
