What is the reduction STC rating if the gypsum wallboard touches top or bottom plate in the Quietzone™ Acoustic Wall system?
Having the drywall simply contact the top and bottom plate could result in a 1-2 STC reduction. If drywall is physically attached to the top or bottom plate (ie nailed), this could result in up to a 3 STC point reduction. It is very important when installing gypsum wallboard that it does not touch the top or bottom plate directly, but is sealed to the top and bottom plate using Quietzone™ Acoustic Caulking for good sound performance.
