What is the Redemption Period?
Approximately 30 days after a domain name expires it goes into what is called the redemption period. The redemption period lasts for approximately 30 days. During this period the domain name can be redeemed by the original registrant for a regular renewal rate plus a redemption fee. This fee is currently $125.00 USD. If the domain name is not redeemed it is deleted by the registry and made available for registration.

The ‘Redemption Period’ is a lapse of time of about 30/35 days during which the Registrar can still recover and renew expired domains and confirm registration to the current assignee. The Authorities have introduced this particular domain status preceeding cancellation, so as to allow the Registrars and the assignees to re gain the domain they are still interested in.
