What is the red ring of death with xbox 360?
When you turn on the 360, the lights around the power button light up in four quadrants of green. This means your console is running fine. Generally when it’s running there is one green quadrant lit constantly. If, however, any of the quadrants turn red, you have a problem. It can be something as simple as a cord not being plugged in correctly, but what cost M$ 1 billion dollars to fix was what was deemed the RRoD, in which the top left, bottom left and bottom right lit red. This was usually due to overheating, and therefore the internals were fried and malfunctioning. The whole “cords not being plugged in correctly” stuff was coded as the E74, but now this is the “new” RRoD of sorts. This occurs when one quadrant lights up red.
The red ring of death is 3 red “rings” around the XBOX360. What it means is that your 360 has a hardware failure. This is most commonly due to overheating the console. But i believe on the newer chips you dont get the Red Ring, but you get an E74. In which is like the red ring, but with only 1 flashing red light. In my eyes, if you get a red ring, you’re fcked.
