What is the Red Cross Movement?

0

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is made up of 186 national societies with almost 100 million volunteers, including Australian Red Cross. The Movement also includes the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, acting as a coordinating body, and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), working mostly in areas of conflict. The ICRC is the custodian of the Geneva Conventions which have also been signed by state governments to uphold. The Movement’s mission is to prevent or reduce human suffering, wherever it is found. Our Fundamental Principles of humanity, impartiality and neutrality guide the movement in this mission.
