What Is the Recovery Like After Nose Surgery?

0

When you wake up from your surgery, you will have an external splint on your nose and a piece of gauze across the base of your nose. You may also have clear plastic splints inside of your nose to help keep your septum straight if there was work done on it and gauze packed in each nostril. Any pain around your nose can be controlled with oral pain medication. Your face will feel swollen and you may develop bruising under your eyes in the first 24 to 48 hours after surgery. This usually peaks the third day after surgery and slowly goes away over the next 10 days to two weeks. Your nasal splint and sutures will be removed one week after surgery. Dr. Smart will then have you wear the external splint at night for two more weeks to help with resolution of swelling. Your result will not be visible for six to 12 months after nose surgery. Most of our patients are able to return to work within two weeks after their surgery.
