Dempsey’s record kick occurred in the New Orleans Saints’ 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions on November 8, 1970 at Tulane Stadium. Dempsey nailed the game-winning field goal with just two seconds remaining in the game.Only two other kickers in National Football League history have converted field goals of 60 yards. Steve Cox of the Cleveland Browns connected on a 60-yarder against the Cincinnati Bengals on October 21, 1984; and Morten Andersen, then kicking for the New Orleans Saints booted a 60-yard field goal against the Chicago Bears on October 27, 1991.
