1) On your metal framing you will screw a base layer of 9mm magnesiacore to your studs using trim head screws for metal studs. You will offset the vertical joints from the studs so that the vertical jointing occurs between the framing members (as per our Wall Boarding on Metal Video ). You stager the coursing of the board so that there are never four corners of panel meeting. Generally each two corners will meet the board below near the center. These panels are laid with 3mm (1/8″) gaps as shown. The gaps do not get filled in the first layer. On conclusion of this layer you will have a decent surface that will prepare to correct imperfections in the stud work (if any) and prepare the base layer to receive a proper wall system. 2) Over this base layer you will apply a second layer of magnesiacore 9mm over acoustical goo staggering the join layout for the second layer applied over the first layer.
