What is the recommended treatment for metritis?
EXCENEL® RTU (ceftiofur hydrochloride) Sterile Suspension is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for treatment of acute postpartum metritis. It is administered either subcutaneously or intramuscularly for five consecutive days at 2.0 mL/100 lbs. body weight. EXCENEL RTU is proven effective against the major pathogens that cause metritis. Unlike extra-label treatments, EXCENEL RTU is a proven treatment requiring no milk discard when used according to label directions. As with all drugs, EXCENEL RTU should not be used in animals found to be hypersensitive to the product.
