9mm (3/8″) is recommended for a wall board in place of drywall. It provides a plaster hard wall that installs like drywall. 6mm (1/4″) is recommended for ceramic tile backer board on floors that is screwed over the plywood sub-flooring, floor boards or old finished flooring. We recommend a thin layer of floor mix between the sub-floor and the magnesiacore to eliminate voids. 9mm (3/8″) is the recommended thickness on walls for ceramic tile wall backerboard. Bonding is excellent with the ceramic and backboard combining strength allowing 6mm (1/4″) with heavy large tiles.
