What is the reason that students nowadays have got lack of creative thinking skills?
Well, there are numbers of reasons behind it, but though few of are huge reasons behind lack of creative thinking skills which i got some of the information from Lowell Milken Center.
- Rationalizing and Validating
- Easy Vs. Proactive Assuming
- Pursuing Constancy
- Worry of Objection
- Anxiety of Failing
- Absence of Instructions
I actually don’t agree that students today are less creative than in the past. I think the difference is that today, many students are getting an education that in the past would have dropped out of school to work on the farm or learn a trade. 50 years ago, it was common to not complete high school and 100 years ago a university education was just for the very elite. The vast majority of people – the “regular” people, got non-academic jobs by age 16 or 18. Today, that group of regular people are in high school and often in college, and no – they’re not all as creative as the top percentage of past students. Not everyone is going to be a creative genius. But look at the end result of our education system. There are plenty of innovative minds out there producing new ideas in medicine, technology, the arts, etc.
