The Greatest Commandment, as given by the Lord Jesus, is Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mindand the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. (Matthew 22:37-39) Jesus calls us to follow him to follow him now, not after death. ( Dallas Willard, Spirit of the Disciplines. Pg. 3). We are called to be lovers and learners and followers of Jesuswe are called to be disciples! The Lord Jesus also gave the Great Commission to “make disciples” (Matthew 28:19, 20). We are not only called to be disciples but we are also called to make disciples. Obedience to these commands (i.e. Love the Lord your God, “make disciples”) is the heartbeat and mission of the Church. Therefore, every Christian has both the responsibility and privilege to intentionally pursue a passionate relationship with God.
