Courtney Love has lost legal guardianship of her Frances Bean Cobain, the 17-year-old daughter she had with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. According to a filing in Los Angeles Superior Court, temporary guardianship of Cobain has been granted to her grandmother (and Kurt Cobain’s mother), Wendy O’Connor, and his aunt, Kimberly Dawn Cobain. No reason was given for decision, nor does the filing — which occurred on Friday (December 11) — mention Love. According to TMZ, temporary guardianships are established by the court “when the parent is not capable of taking care of their children.” Love was reportedly not in court when the filing occurred.
