A few hundred feet from where an Auburn University library worker was struck crossing College Street in September, representatives from the university and the city of Auburn discussed ways to improve pedestrian safety on the city streets bordering the campus. “We think we are well on our way to providing a solution,” Auburn City Manager Charlie Duggan said. “We certainly don’t take pedestrian safety lightly.” Auburn Police Division Capt. Tom Stofer said accident statistics for the city reflect the concentration of cars and pedestrians around campus. He added only one was alcohol-related.
