Answer- The ayurveda works on the symptomatic aspects of individual and his bodily constituencies. There are very large numbers of medicines that are to be used for the treatment of a patient. The various diagnosis methods termed as pareeksha (tests) are the basics to under stand the position of the all the causes of diseases in-patient. Then accordingly the drugs and medicines are decided. The medicines suitable for a person may not be suitable for other person so there are so large numbers of medicines. This can be understood by the fact that only madan phala is having 133 different combinations.
