What is the “ReAL” honest to goodness reason 70% of Americans are against the Iraq war?
The question is flawed, as there is neither a real, nor an honest, reason. Hand-picked polls, designed to create numbers the pollsters want, neither classify as “real” nor “honest”, and certainly not “real, honest-to-goodness”. The majority of Americans who claim to be against the war know next to nothing about it. I would be genuinely surprised if they could even find Iraq on a map, much less name more than three Iraqi cities or regions or neighboring countries without having to look at a map. They claim to be “tired” of a war that the vast majority of them have yet to lift a finger to contribute to, much less be inconvenienced by. I wonder… if we were to completely recall all of our troops home, and pretend everyone in the world is our “friend”, how many more terrorist attacks against Americans it would take before people finally get it into their heads that sometimes they actually have to WORK for what they want, and WORK to protect themselves. So far, I’m not seeing any indicatio
Because you have two kinds of people who counted as being “against the war”. First, you have some that are against any war, anywhere, anytime, who think that if we leave the world alone, they’ll leave us alone, and that nothing justifies war, period. Then you have the ones that think we need to take the gloves off and get this thing done no matter what it takes, but are viewing the half-measures with great disfavor. One group thinks we should do less, and therefore opposes the war, and the other thinks we should do more, and therefore opposes the war as conducted. Together, they total 70%.
