What is the real history behind the beginning of the Witchcraft persecutions?
Modern witchcraft has an old and tumultuous history. We begin with Pagan beliefs and folk magicks before the time of Christ that encompass the idea that individuals are tied to the natural cycles of the earth, and seek various petitions through a hierarchy system of Gods and Goddesses, or a single deity or duel deity (such as early Christianity). From Christs birth until approximately 314 AD there were many individuals teaching the word of Christ in their own form and they simply didnt agree. This posed a problem in teaching the masses. If they couldnt agree, then their belief system, they felt, had no strength. Early Christians not only believed in equality for women, it also tendered faith that God had a wife, and that reincarnation existed (study Cathars and Gnostics). In 314 the Canon Episcopi began the Witchcraft delusion by indicating worshippers of Paganism (meaning the heathen dwellers) flew at night to worship the Goddess. (A Canon is a religious statement).
