In the serology panels (autoimmune and infectious diseases), a bead is added to control for non-specific binding of antibody to the beads. The signal for the control bead is subtracted from the specific reaction bead and this value is divided by the control bead signal to give the RBM ratio [(Specific bead – non-specific bead)/non-specific bead].
