What is the rationale behind the introduction of an Extended Diploma?

0

A considerable number of young people aged 16-19 (around 20,000 in total) currently undertake programmes of study that are larger than 3.5 A Levels (which is the size of an Advanced Diploma). We think it is right that such extended programmes should be available within the Diploma framework as well as alongside it. The Extended Diploma should appeal to students who want to take larger programmes of study.
