What is the radius and how does it work?
Here is an example. Suppose you have a truck in San Francisco that you would like to bring back to the southeast. Use DAT Connect.com to search for a load that originates close to San Francisco. The number you enter in the radius field represents the distance you are willing to deadhead to pick up that load – say 100 miles. Our computer draws a circle with a radius of 100 miles around San Francisco and picks out loads that originate within that circle. The result is a quick, effective gauge of what is available in the area. In this case, it could be a load from Modesto, CA, to Tupelo, MS, because Modesto is within the 100-mile circle. The radius does not take into account the physical terrain or availability of roads in the area.
