What is the quality and accuracy of the information in CAMEO?
All the textual information in the database is obtained from published sources (articles, books, patents, MSDS, manufacturer spec sheets, etc.). Additionally, information is only entered into the database once it has been verified from more than one source. The new Authority Field provides a list of all sources that have been checked for the generation of that record. Notes are included for any discrepancies found among the various sources, particularly for numbers (e.g. development dates, physical parameters). The Authority Field also provides dates for the information sheets (MSDS, specs, etc.) that will aid in the interpretation of the data currency. Certainly there are some commercial products in the database with proprietary formulations that do not have specific content information.
