What is the purpose of the wedding sand ceremony?
The sand ceremony is another kind of unity ceremony. Sometimes, the sand is used outside when the unity candle isn’t desired. The sand ceremony can also be used as a family ceremony unlike the unity candle. Everyone can use a different color sand but sometimes even glitter is used by the kids to add sparkle to the design. Other kinds of unity ceremonies are the wine, unity bouquet, lasso, handfasting, etc. It was started by a woman, I had her name but can’t find it at the moment. As soon as I do, I’ll repost. Found it. The Blending of the Sands concept was originally created by Geneene L. Thornton, Owner, Waterfront Weddings by Celebrations EVENT Planning in San Diego, CA in 1993.
