What is the purpose of the survey Monthly Oil Pipeline Statement?
This monthly survey covers all pipelines operating within provincial boundaries receiving and delivering crude oils, liquefied petroleum gases (propane, butane and ethane) and refined petroleum products. These pipelines are prohibited by license from transporting oil across provincial and national boundaries. This data is required for integration into the input-output sector of the Canadian System of National Accounts. Data is made available under the authority of the Statistics Act to other federal departments and provincial authorities through data sharing agreements subject to embodied principles of data confidentiality. Data is also intended for use by survey respondents, industry associations, industry analysts, and the general public. Note: The Monthly Oil Pipeline Transport ‘A’ Survey (record number 2148) surveys all pipelines whose activities cut across provincial and national boundaries.
