What is the purpose of the point on the Mesa Public Library building?
The point, part of architect Antoine Predock’s artistic vision, is, in his own words in an interview with the Los Alamos Monitor, “the prow. It’s an absolutely necessary element, and it becomes an icon.” Predock believes that “public buildings of this stature should have an iconic presence, and they should be markers in the townscape.” Thus, although the point is not functional, it does have a purpose.
