What is the purpose of the New York State Bathing Codes?
The purpose of the New York State bathing codes are to substantially reduce the risk of drowning, near drowning, disease, or injury for the public using the bathing facility and to substantially reduce the liability of permitted facility owners. New York State Sanitary Code Subpart 6-1 assures a sanitary, healthful and safe environment for the public when using swimming pools.
