What is the purpose of the National Green Building Investment Underwriting Standards?
The objective of the Green Building Investment Underwriting Standards (“Standards”) is to provide capital market guidance when analyzing real estate assets as to green features that add financially tangible value. The Standards’ purpose is to guide users in coming to a better understanding of risk and opportunity within their real estate underwriting processes and investment portfolios. These Standards give capital market participants a tool to analyze and score ALL real estate assets on energy efficiency, water efficiency, and indoor environmental quality by assessing and ultimately deriving a score known as the CMP Green Value Score™. This analysis is performed at the asset level so as to determine and transparently report an asset’s tangible financial features on a relative basis.
