What is the purpose of the National AP Exam?
For AP World History the National Exam is a 3hour 5 minute exam consisting of 2 parts. The first part contains 70 multiple choice questions covering ten thousand years of history. Each question has 5 answer choices and also has a 1/4 point penalty for missed answers like the SAT test. The second part of the test contains 3 essays. One essay is a DBQ or Document Based Question where the students use documents in the construction of their answer. The next essay is called the C/COT or Change and Continuity over Time essay and the final essay is the Comparative essay. Students will have approximately 40 minutes to write each essay.
