What is the purpose of the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons?
The Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons will be the signature building on the Allendale campus. It will be a place where learning continues after class is over, where students can work in teams or alone, with or without the help of expert consultants, in a room full of buzz and wired with the latest technologies, or on a sofa in a whisper quiet corner by the fireplace. It will be loaded with comfortable furniture and well-equipped enclaves that nurture group projects and peer-to-peer interaction, because that’s how today’s students learn. And that’s how they are likely to work after they graduate-collaboratively as a part of a team. It will also house the book collections that support classes taught in Allendale, with humanities titles in open, browsable shelves and the rest of the collections in an onsite, automated retrieval system.
