What is the purpose of the leaf on a plant?

Edit by I Know It: I’m not an expert on this, just have some basic knowledge. Anyway, the leaf takes in energy from the sun through a process called photosynthesis. They also take in air, use the carbon dioxide in it, and release the rest, including oxygen, back into the air. (This is why they’re so essential to us, because they put oxygen back into the air which we breate.) And yes, the leaves do make the plant more attractive.
