What is the purpose of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program?
The Interdisciplinary Studies Program is designed for students who desire a program of study with more flexibility and/or opportunities for interdisciplinary study than a traditional major. BGS students work towards achieving the following seven program goals: 1. Integration of personal development, liberal arts, and professional/career studies in an individualized plan of study. 2. Development of writing skills. 3. Development of critical thinking skills. 4. Development of interdisciplinary problem solving skills. 5. Development of a breadth of academic experience rather than development of a major. 6. Attainment of applied research skills. 7. Development of global and multicultural perspectives. You are an excellent candidate for the Interdisciplinary Studies Program if your personal educational goals mesh with the program goals listed above.
