What is the purpose of the Illinois Adoption Registry?

0

The Illinois Adoption Registry, which was established by the Adoption Act (750 ILCS 50) provides a means for certain individuals involved in an adoption in Illinois to locate other people involved in the adoption. Persons who were adopted or surrendered for adoption, their birth parents, birth siblings, adoptive parents and legal guardians may file their consent to exchange information with others involved in the adoption. If done in compliance with the law, information may be exchanged without the need for a court order.
