What is the purpose of the FEIS?
The Final EIS, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), describes the purpose of, and analyzes the need underlying the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s proposal for construction of Route 92. The Final EIS describes the beneficial and adverse impacts of the permit applicant’s proposed Route 92, and alternatives to the applicant’s proposed project. It environmentally evaluates alternatives, including the permit applicant’s proposal in light of the project’s purpose and need. The Final EIS has been prepared, with public and agency input, to assist the Corps in reaching an informed decision on the permit applicant currently before it from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
