The DMC removes minerals from the water to prevent white dust. The contents of the cartridge need to be soaked for 24 hrs prior to first using the unit so that they may fully expand and remove minerals from the water. The contents of the DMC have a life of 2 – 3 months. The cartridge may need to be replaced more often depending on water hardness and how often the unit is used. The presence of white dust or reduced amount of mist output is an indication of when the DMC needs to be changed.
