The digital interface socket is for use by authorised manufacturers only. It is used for testing and uploading new software from a PC but the software required to do this is written by (and copyright to) Sky and, therefore, available only to manufacturers. You will not need to use this socket because the internal software will be upgraded by Sky from time to time overnight via satellite.
