What is the purpose of Sports Taekwondo Australia?
The primary role of Sports Taekwondo Australia is to conduct relevant selection events and to be responsible for the entry of Australian athletes to WTF non-Olympic tournaments and events for the Taekwondo sports of Poomse and sparring. Because the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has made it clear that it does not envisage granting membership to a national federation for Taekwondo until at least the second half of 2009, there is a need to put in place a stable management structure to ensure that selection events in Australia for WTF non-Olympic tournaments are properly co-ordinated and that any selection process is fair, equitable and transparent. STA has been established by the Oceania Taekwondo Union for these specific purposes.
