What is the purpose of Izmir City Officer program? Will it be a replacement of Consular Officer?
How do you relate to the other American offices in Izmir? A: The Izmir City Officer program helps the US Government remain connected with the great city of Izmir. The US Consular Agent in Izmir will continue to manage consular functions for the city’s American citizens. As City Officer, I will help maintain the Embassy’s political, cultural and economic relations with Izmir and its government. I will work very closely with our Consular Agent, Foreign Commercial Service Representative and American Corner on all activities in Izmir. Q: How many City Officers are there in Turkey other than Izmir and what are their responsibilities? A: There are three city officers in Turkey. In addition to Izmir, there are city officers assigned to Konya and Kayseri. Q: What concretely will you be doing for Izmir – what are the benefits to Izmir to this program? How do people get a hold of you with their concerns? A: I will represent the United States Government in Izmir. I will visit the city frequently
