What is the purpose of GSS and graduate supervision reporting?
For the Student: An opportunity to review and comment on the following, and bring any issues to the attention of the Supervisor: academic progress during the current term; skills developted and/or training undertaken; skills and training needed for the next stage of their programme of study/research project; engagement with the academic community (such as seminar or conference attending, teaching or engagement with faculty and college activities. For the Supervisor: An opportunity to review, monitor and comment on the student’s academic progress and performance during the current term, and to assess skills and training needs to be addressed during the next term. The Supervisor should discuss the report with the Student; as such, the report should form a basis for the Supervisor to provide feedback on the student’s progress, for identifying areas where further work is required, for reviewing their progress against the agreed timetable, and agreeing plans for the term ahead.
