What is the purpose of ECSW’s council?
ECSW’s council was convened to cultivate a community of discerning Christian professionals in biblical interpretation, spirituality, psychology, philosophy and ministry to serve as a “think tank” or “wisdom council” in the field of spiritual formation. It is an outgrowth of one of our core values: a commitment to know what we are talking about in the field of spiritual formation. The community is committed to meet two to three times a year to discuss and reflect together on current research, observations and study in the field of spiritual formation. ECSW recognizes the complexity of discerning wisdom in this vital field of spiritual formation. The scope of this endeavor requires input from more than one individual and more than one field of study. The council is a community of professionals in relevant fields who have a love for the Church of Jesus Christ, a passion to see her grow in truth and love, and a heart of discernment in the movements of the Holy Spirit.
